Linden Observatory hosts a regular beginners group which meets monthly on the Saturday night closest to the new moon.
The beginners group is run by observatory trustee and renowned amateur astronomer Rev. Bob Evans. Participants learn how to read charts, locate celestial objects and to use and maintain their telescopes. Even if you don't have a telescope, there are telescopes available for use and learning on the night.
The beginners group also coincides with viewing nights run by WSAAG, so there is an opportunity to learn more from the many experienced observers who attend. The group is free to come and see what is going on, though regular members are asked for a small $5 donation to assist with costs.
